4db873808f (try_cursor_movement): Check update_mode_lines instead 
of the window's update_mode_line flag, since the former is set by
force-mode-line-update, not the latter.  This makes
column-number-mode slightly faster.

00d04b7265 (AC_SYS_LARGEFILE, AC_SYS_LARGEFILE_MACRO_VALUE): 
Merge fixes from latest GNU tar version.  These macros no longer
futz with _XOPEN_SOURCE, as that was not portable in practice.
(AC_FUNC_FSEEKO): New macro.

db7ebd7360 (gnus-summary-recenter): When trying to keep the bottom line visible, 
check to see if it's partially obscured, and if so, either scroll one
more line to make it fully visible, or revert to showing the second line
from the top.

cdf547492d (log-edit-parent-buffer): New var. 
(log-edit): Set it.  Add BUFFER argument.
(log-edit-done): Use char-before.
Don't bother checking validity of vc-comment-ring.
Only bury the buffer if log-edit popped it up.

5cdb3cf38f (Fpos_visible_in_window_p): Replace FULLY parameter with PARTIALLY, 
inverting the sense.
(window_scroll_pixel_based): Scroll partially visible lines into place
if we hit the beginning or end of the buffer.
(displayed_window_lines): Don't include partially visible line at bottom.
