The class of problems that this was designed to detect, namely .elc
files getting corrupted by being passed around by email via uuencode
or somesuch, has not been a relevant concern for many years.

* Makefile.in (install-doc): DOC file is not version specific any more.
* .bzrignore: Don't ignore DOC-* any more.
* admin/quick-install-emacs: Don't prune DOC-* files a any more.
* doc/lispref/loading.texi (Autoload):
* doc/lispref/help.texi (Documentation Basics, Accessing Documentation)
(Accessing Documentation, Accessing Documentation): DOC-* is now DOC.
* etc/.gitignore: Don't ignore DOC-* any more.
* lib-src/makefile.w32-in ($(DOC)): Use DOC rather than DOC-X.
* msdos/sed1x.inp: Don't rewrite DOC any more.
* nt/makefile.w32-in (clean, top-distclean): DOC-X doesn't exist any more.
* src/Makefile.in (bootstrap-clean): DOC-* doesn't exist any more.
* src/makefile.w32-in (DOC): Use just "DOC".
This script isn't used by Emacs, and I can't imagine anyone else is
using it any more either... From the commentary:
"This script is intended to be used to convert files with an
old-Emacs-style version history for use with VC (the Emacs 19
version-control interface), which likes to use RCS as its back end."

quick-install-emacs: Use mkdir --verbose only when requested

* admin/quick-install-emacs: Only use the mkdir --verbose option if the
script's --verbose option was specified (this avoids problems with
default usage on systems where mkdir doesn't support that option).
Tweaks to admin/quick-install-emacs
* quick-install-emacs: Remove fns-* pruning, since that file no
longer seems to be generated.
(AVOID): Quote literal periods. Quote braces in a way acceptable
to all parties (gawk gets bitchy about using `\').
