7b207d6d4f Improve usage of AC_INIT 
* configure.ac (AC_INIT): Add "GNU" in package, add bug address.
(PACKAGE_BUGREPORT): Use it.

* src/emacs.c (emacs_version): Use PACKAGE_VERSION rather than VERSION.
(emacs_bugreport): New variable.
(usage_message): Use PACKAGE_BUGREPORT.
(syms_of_emacs) <report-emacs-bug-address>: New variable.

* lisp/cus-start.el (report-emacs-bug-address): Set custom properties.

* lisp/mail/emacsbug.el (report-emacs-bug-address):
Variable is now defined in emacs.c.

c3153003fb Add system-configuration-features, summarising some configure results 
* configure.ac (ACL_SUMMARY): Rename from acl_summary, for consistency.
(EMACS_CONFIG_FEATURES): New define.

* src/emacs.c (syms_of_emacs) <system-configuration-features>: New var.

* lisp/mail/emacsbug.el (report-emacs-bug):
Include system-configuration-features.

* etc/NEWS: Mention this.

(messages-buffer): New function.

* lisp/startup.el (normal-top-level): Switch mode of *Messages* buffer.

* src/xdisp.c (message_dolog): If we create *Messages*,
switch it to messages-buffer-mode.

* lisp/emacs-lisp/ert.el (ert--force-message-log-buffer-truncation)
(ert-run-test): Use `message-buffer' function.
(ert--force-message-log-buffer-truncation): Ignore read-only.

* lisp/help.el (view-echo-area-messages): Use `message-buffer' function.

* lisp/mail/emacsbug.el (report-emacs-bug): Use `message-buffer' function.

* lisp/gnus/gnus-util.el (gnus-message-with-timestamp-1):

into own function for reuse by emacsbug.el.
