59115a2281 (read_minibuf): Bind inhibit-read-only to t around clearing the minibuffer. 
(read_minibuf_unwind): Likewise.  Also, clearing the buffer
is now the last thing we do.

e6aa7813ab (command_loop_1): Explicitly clear the echo area 
with message2; don't just clear echo_area_glyphs.
Don't set no_direct in that case.
