failure to `make recompile'.

"Peter_Dyballa@Web.DE, Oct 4: Coding system of file not recognised
correctly" was a bug in personal configuration files.

"hashiz@tomba.meridiani.jp, Oct 6: bootstrap failure" seems to be
FreeBSD-only.
